Story
Blooma, Oolong, and Gokuu continue driving along through the mushroom-filled area. Oolong suddenly wants to know what Blooma will wish for. She says a dreamy boyfriend, and it angers Oolong to learn that they're risking their lives for such a thing. Oolong nearly crashes their car as they argue over the matter. Yamcha and Puer continue following them, with Yamcha relishing the idea of getting his wish soon. Meanwhile, Mai is trying to get a a Dragon Ball detector to work while Pilaf threatens to feed her to alligators. Shuu then rushes into the room to explain that it's Pilaf's nap time, just as Mai finally finishes. They test it out, only to find their own Yi Xing Qiu again. Pilaf grows angry, until their spying bird suddenly returns to them with information.
Mai stands on top of one of the mushrooms, telling Pilaf via radio that she's at point Ho 15. Their car is coming, so Pilaf orders her to execute the plan. Mai then asks Shuu if he can see the car, and tells him to follow the plan. Oolong and Blooma then begin arguing again, with Oolong stopping the car out of frustration. He refuses to continue driving, so Blooma calls out "Pee Pee Pee!" to change his mind. When they finally get back onto the road, Shuu fires a missile from his mecha, blowing up their car. The three are thrown off to the side, and Shuu's mecha quickly hops over to the car's remains. He finds the briefcase full of Dragon Balls, and then flies away. Blooma yells at Gokuu to catch him, so he calls for the Somersault Cloud and flies off.
Shuu flies away in a plane with Mai, having abandoned his mecha. Gokuu then stumbles upon the empty mecha and yells at it. There's no response, so he taps it with his staff, and it falls over, so Gokuu assumes it to be dead. Blooma thinks the thief must have known about the Dragon Balls, which is rare. Oolong suggests she give up and let him be her boyfriend, but Blooma disagrees. Gokuu then returns, and says that he defeated the thief, but the Dragon Balls weren't there.
Blooma cries about those people collecting all seven and this being the end, until Gokuu points out that he still has the Si Xing Qiu in his pouch. Blooma then arrogantly laughs about the thieves forgetting one, and declares that they'll use the Dragon Radar to take everything back. However, she suddenly remembers that her new case of capsules was also in the briefcase with the Dragon Balls, leaving them with no transportation. Yamcha realizes he has no choice but to help them again, so he and Puer drive over to them "coincidentally," much to Blooma's excitement. She asks Yamcha to close his eyes, which he nervously thinks could mean a kiss, but she simply checks the Dragon Radar and confirms the direction they need. Blooma then starts cuddling up against Yamcha, which causes him to nearly crash the car.
Inside of his castle, Pilaf opens the case of five Dragon Balls and becomes excited about soon ruling the world, until Shuu and Mai inform him that one is missing. He counts them all, confirming that the Si Xing Qiu is missing, and thus scolds them. But Pilaf soon notices on the Dragon Ball detector that the seventh ball is already on its way. Gokuu's group does indeed reach the castle shortly afterward, where Yamcha must catch his breath. Mai notes that they've already arrived, so Pilaf thinks they may also have a radar.
Gokuu's group heads inside the castle and creeps quietly along the walls, encountering a swarm of bats that makes Blooma cling to Yamcha, causing him to rudely toss her aside in fear. They continue quietly, until brick pillars begin shooting up from the floor and walls, which the group is barely able to dodge and destroy. After getting past that obstacle, Gokuu spots some directional arrows painted on the floor. They decide to follow the arrows, eventually coming to a dead end. A wall then drops behind them, trapping them in a tiny room. Pilaf can't believe they fell for such a dumb trap.
Continuity
This episode includes all the events of Chapter 18. This chapter was first printed approximately 12 months before this episode first aired. Considerable anime-original material makes up the remainder of the episode, such as additional scenes with Pilaf's group, and numerous other extensions and alterations. Chapter 18 had been the manga debut of Pilaf, Shuu, and Mai, but the anime moved their debut to a prior point in the story, so this episode was simply one of many appearances for them.
