Story

Another gong is rung, and the man with the megaphone tells the spectators they cannot watch the preliminaries. Blooma protests, but he shouts that these are the rules. Inside, one of the officials thanks them for coming to this World's Best Martial Arts Fest, which happens once every 5 years to decide the greatest martial arts master in the world. There are 137 contestants, but only 8 will make it to the real tournament.

Meanwhile, Blooma wants to peek inside the building, but the window is too high, so she asks Oolong to act as a step for her. Oolong reluctantly agrees and kneels on the ground, but his mood improves when he gets a glimpse of Blooma's panties as she climbs onto his back. However, Blooma is still not high enough, so she asks Oolong to stand up. Now she can see inside the Competition Hall, as can Puer after flying up to the window. The official then goes over the rules: the fights are one-on-one atop the contest platforms. If you fall from there, faint, or concede, it's a loss. However, killing your opponent is forbidden, as is the use of weapons. You'll have only one minute to fight in the preliminaries, but in the case of a draw, the winner will be chosen by decision.

Now everyone has to draw numbers to see which of the four preliminary blocks they'll end up in, and only two people from each block will be entered in the World's Best Martial Arts Fest. Kuririn draws #93, and Gokuu #70. They're both in Block 3, but Gokuu says they're on opposite ends, so they won't have to fight each other. Yamcha has drawn #35, which puts him in Block 2. Yamcha then leaves for his block, and Gokuu and Kuririn check out all the competition on the way to theirs. #69 vs #70 is the first match for Block 3, so Gokuu is called up to fight. Yamcha overhears and decides to watch. Outside, Oolong is struggling to look up Blooma's skirt.

Gokuu's opponent is a huge wrestler-looking man, who is upset about having to fight a little kid. The match begins, and Gokuu rushes at him, but runs through his legs. The man wonders where Gokuu went as Gokuu taps him from behind, knocking him off the platform. Even Yamcha is shocked at Gokuu's strength. Oolong then cheers about getting a good view up Blooma's skirt, but Blooma wonders how he knew about Gokuu's victory. It's #70's win, which most of the other competitors believe is due to the big man's clumsiness. But Yamcha knows that this is the result of the Almighty Fighting Master's training.

Kuririn is impressed, but Gokuu can't believe his own strength. Two members of Kuririn's Oorin Temple, much bigger than him, then approach the boys. They start picking on Kuririn, asking what number he has. The taller of the two says that #93 would make them opponents, and then they walk off laughing. Kuririn is nervous, but Gokuu gives him a pep talk. Puer then spots Yamcha through the window, and Blooma tries to shout and wave at him. But a large, disgusting man suddenly stands in front of the window inside. This scares Blooma into losing her balance, and she frantically grabs Puer's tail to bring him tumbling down with her. On the ground, Puer then clings to her face and blocks her vision, and she flails her legs around trying to pull Puer away. Oolong is thus left with a good view of her underwear, but so is a large crowd of men. Oolong then tries to hide her shame until she finally pulls Puer away and fixes her skirt.

Later, Blooma, Oolong, and Puer visit an ice cream stand, and Blooma demands that Oolong pay for the ice cream to make up for the skirt incident. Puer wonders where the Turtle Hermit went, and Blooma assumes he's somewhere bothering women. Blooma then offers Oolong her panties if he'll transform into a ladder for her to watch the preliminaries. On that note, it's now time for #93 vs #94. The match begins, and the tall Oorin Temple guy swings at Kuririn, but Kuririn jumps over it. Kuririn then comes down and flies toward him with a kick to the gut, which sends the guy crashing through the wall to the outside, flying right past Blooma's group. It's #93's win. Gokuu praises the old man's training, while Kuririn still can't believe his own strength. Oolong then turns into a ladder, but Puer points out the new hole in the wall, and it allows Blooma to see inside without Oolong's help.

Yamcha's match is up next, against a large man with a mohawk. But Yamcha quickly knocks the man out with a single kick to the face. #35 wins. Later, Gokuu kicks a boxer in the face, which knocks him out and earns Gokuu another win. Next, Kuririn is up against a martial artist, who kicks Kuririn in the gut while he's distracted by Gokuu's cheers. Then the man elbows Kuririn in the back and starts beating on him while he's on the ground. But Kuririn returns to his feet unscathed. He thinks about how amazing the Almighty Fighting Master's training really was, and then says it's time for his counterattack. But the man instead concedes, having seen how this kid was unaffected by his attacks. Yamcha also wins his second match, against the other Oorin Temple member.

The three of them progress further, until it's time for one of the final matches of Block 2: #35 (Yamcha) vs #45 (a wolf person). Yamcha announces Wolf Fang Wind Wind Fist, but his opponent retorts that he'll show him the power of a real wolf. They clash and strike each other, and Yamcha kneels after they break, which worries his friends. But the wolf is the one who collapses, so #35 will compete in the World's Best Martial Arts Fest. Gokuu congratulates Yamcha, but then it is time for the final match of the first half of Block 3, between #70 and #82.

The match will be Gokuu versus a martial artist. Kuririn cheers for Gokuu, and Yamcha watches with him. The match begins, and the man says his Lion Fang School won't lose to a kid. The man swings at Gokuu, but Gokuu vanishes, reappearing in the air above him. Gokuu comes down, and the man prepares to attack again. But Gokuu avoids his attack and sweep kicks him, then grabs the man by the feet and tosses him off the platform. It's a ringout, so #70 will be competing in the World's Best Martial Arts Fest.

Now it's time for #93 vs #97: Kuririn's final match against a bear man. The bear punches at Kuririn, but Kuririn easily avoids his fists and runs behind him. He then finishes off the bear man with a kick to the face, so #93 will also be competing in the World's Best Martial Arts Fest now. Kuririn and Gokuu have a happy dance as Yamcha worries that the rest will be tough for him. Outside, Blooma, Oolong, and Puer are excited that everyone has qualified, and the Turtle Hermit suddenly joins them to concur.
