Comic and TV Thoughts: Last Aquaman in Hell

Some brief thoughts on last week’s episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, as well as those slightly old Angel comics that I mentioned the other day. No spoilers.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold 2-4 – Aquaman’s Outrageous Adventure:
I love Benderquaman, and this episode was probably the best one with him yet. Family road trip? Stephen Root-voiced Penguin as a villain? Hell yes.

Angel #26 and #27:
These issues, the “Boys and Their Toys” two-parter, had me in stitches. Hilarious concept, and tons of great lines. Lynch knows the series and characters so well, so it’s sad that this is the end of his run, but at least he went out on a very high note.

Angel Annual #1
Not quite as funny as #26 and #27, but it was cheesy, silly fun, and it’s a great mockery of the Hollywoodization process. Which also makes it a little sad, but then I remember “torpedo laser bullet bombs” and forget for a while. I think the ending is probably my favorite part, just because it’s so wacked out and trippy.
