The Song at the End of Kamen Rider Ryuki 33
So I’ve been marathoning older Kamen Rider shows to help me fall asleep. (Not that they’re boring, but I’ll talk more about that another time.) And as I watched episode 33 of Ryuki, I was on the verge of dozing off until I got to the end of the episode.
Without ruining it for anyone who’s never seen the show, the end of this episode has a deliciously over-dramatic slow motion sequence backed by an amazing instrumental song. Folding laundry has never been so hype. But I also knew I’d heard that song somewhere before, so I was suddenly wide awake and searching the web to figure out what it was.
NXT Season 3, Episodes 1 to 5
I really enjoyed WWE’s NXT Season 1. Season 2 was definitely a step down, but I was still pleased with it. And now we’re in the all-female Season 3, which only had four episodes air on TV before becoming a web exclusive (at least in the US) last week. I think there are some positive aspects to it, and so far, I like most of these girls better than the current crop of WWE Divas. But I have a feeling this show will die soon, with Michael Cole ballroom dancing on its grave.
Summerslam Thoughts
Last night was Summerslam, which is WWE’s #2 annual pay-per-view after WrestleMania. If you stalk my personal Twitter (different from the new-ish site Twitter), you may have noticed I had a lot of issues with WWE’s webcast of the show. But I persevered, and I enjoyed what I did get to see.
Michael Cole and His Amazing Friends
The first season of WWE’s pseudo-reality show, NXT, apparently ended last week, and the second season already starts tonight. I have many things to say about both of those matters.
TV Thoughts: Conclusions, Retirements, and Fried Chicken
Some thoughts on this past week’s episodes of Raw, Chuck, Inuyasha: Final Act, Melrose Place, and South Park. I don’t think I know anyone besides myself that also enjoys all of those five things. Anyway, there are a few spoilers, but they’re hidden.
WrestleMania XXVI Thoughts
This show needs no introduction. Naturally, I ordered and watched it live last night, but even if it was almost an obligation, it was worth every cent.
Monday Night Wars: Part Two and a Half
After the success of their January 4th show, TNA and Spike TV have decided to move Impact! to Mondays permanently, starting tonight. In the exact same 9-11 timeslot that WWE’s Raw runs in, no less. This effectively marks the return of the “Monday Night Wars,” or so the TNA side would have you believe. But I’m not sure it will be much of a battle for either side.
TV Thoughts: Leprechauns and Crock Pots
I still watch television, of course. In particular, I have a few things to say about the newest episodes of Raw, Lost, Chuck, and Inuyasha: Final Act. So close to having all one word name shows, but the last one had to go and add a subtitle. Spoilers are hidden.
NXT Thoughts
So WWE’s NXT, their newest series, premiered this week. Of course I was going to watch it, but sometimes I have an opinion about things, and sometimes those opinions are made up of multiple words, so… Analysis ahoy.
TV Thoughts: Finales, Premieres, and Evil Gases
Quick rambles about the series finale of Dollhouse, the season premiere of Lost, this week’s ECW, and last week’s episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Many spoilers are thrown about, but I’ve hidden them with ugly color codes, as usual.
